Easy Rib Beanie Knitting Pattern

Have you had a project this year (besides knitting of course) to keep you sane? My 2020 sanity project was designing my own knitting needles! After months of designing and sourcing, they finally arrived! Since I only use circular needles (like most of you) even for flat knitting, I decided that I wanted something special to knit with. It’s so exciting to be able to finally share these with the fiber community, especially during such difficult times! So I designed these 16 inch circulars with a cute pink cord, and the phrase “Keep Calm and Cast On” engraved next to the size.

Keep Calm and Cast On. That’s the phrase that’s gotten me through 2020 so far. I don’t your situation, but for me, this year has been life shattering. Quite frankly, there have been many times that I’ve felt like giving up. I don’t like to talk about personal stuff on the blog a lot, but because I know this year has probably been life shattering for many of you, I wanted you to know that you’re not alone. I’m so grateful that I have the fiber community, and this wonderful hobby to keep my hands moving, even when my head and heart don’t know what to do or how to feel.

You’ll find that a lot of my knitting and crochet patterns this year are really simple. There’s a reason for that, and it’s that I’ve been too overwhelmed for challenging patterns. Simple repetitive stitches are helping me through. Helping me to Keep Calm and Cast On. I hope that you find some of my patterns helpful and fun to create through this year, as we head into fall/winter, know that we’re all in this together and I’m here for support if you need it!

Now to the knitting pattern as promised. This beanie is super easy to knit. It’s made with bulky yarn on circular needles (you can grab your very own pair of my needles for just $12.99!) and it is only knits and purls. It knits up in about 2 hours, making it the perfect hat for holiday gifting, or something quick that you can make in an evening. If you’re looking for the perfect yarn to knit this hat in, Alexandra Tavel of Two of Wands (I’m sure you’ve heard of her!) just designed her own line of yarn with Lion Brand called Hue and Me! The color palette is gorgeous and the yarn is great to knit with. I’ll be designing some patterns specifically using this yarn- so go check it out before it’s gone, it is sure to go fast!
